There is a subreddit called r/UnpopularOpinion and the people on it don't seem to understand how it works.

People share their unpopular opinions, it's in the title. And yet, people get wildly attacked in the comments every time as though they weren't expecting to read something that seems weird, stupid, or bad. The opinions are unpopular, that's the point, folks!

A Redditor named u/cynicallogic discovered this backlash when they shared their truth, which is that they like to wear socks in the shower:

I almost always shower with my socks on. It just feels more relaxing, I don't really like the feeling of water below my feet. Having socks on, even light ones, feels like a nice towel to put around my feet when I'm showering. It's just better this way. I've done this since I was like, 8, and I don't ever plan on changing it. When I told my friends about it they all said it was really weird. I just think it is more comfortable, relaxing, and overall a better experience.

While I would never do this, because I don't want to deal with a bunch of wet moldy socks all the time, their description of showering in socks is actually kind of soothing. It does sound peaceful to have a nice towel around one's feet.

Anyway, people freaked out:

But then another Redditor named u/14thCluelessbird chimed in to say that this the OP is on to something, writing:

"I did this once when I was about 10, and to be honest, I experienced the same things you did. I actually found it surprisingly relaxing; the socks really soaked up the warm water and just felt refreshing in a way. It sounds weird, but that's how it feels to me. Anyways, I haven't showered with socks on in like 13 years but I'm going to try it in an hour or so and come back and report lol."

They haven't yet. I hope they didn't fall in the shower. The original poster added some updates because there were so many comments:

Edit: jeez I really didn't think that this was a big deal.

Edit 2: To address some things:Yes, I actually do this, I personally like it, and it really isn't problematic so I do it. My feet aren't always super clean but I rub lotion on them occasionally.

Edit 3: well I went to sleep, and now I have 953 notifications.

Edit 4: No one hurt me, not demon spawn, you can't have my feet pics, try if you want, don't if you don't want to. Not a sexual or fetish thing, just a me thing.

They also added in a comment what they do with the socks after the shower:

I hang them up to dry off. They're usually in a lit room, I've had a few socks mildew, but it's worth it for me. I enjoy my showers more, and I've learned that mildew isn't super common as long as you don't bunch the shit up in a disgusting pile. But yeah, I have had to throw away socks, which sucks but to me, I buy socks in like packs of 10 for cheap so the satisfaction is worth it.

Damn. Follow your heart, I guess. While wearing wet socks.
